Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers is planning an energy conservation programme at its two urea-ammonia units in Thala in Maharashtra. The conservation programme will carry an investment of Rs. 3630 million. It will optimize or change the existing steam turbine driven machinery to the motor driven mode in the two units.
It will enhance the capacity by 0.36 million tpa and install gas turbine generator of two x 32 MW and heat recovery steam generator of two x 65 TPH. As of March 2019, the project is in planning stage.
